Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity

Want to understand the concepts and language of sexual and gender diversity? This workshop, designed for staff and students, will use media, solo learning and group work to help participants get a better grasp on issues and ideas surrounding gender identity and diversity at McGill.

 

Aboriginal Perspectives

(Oct. 24th, 9:30am-12pm.  McLennan Library, basement RM: MS-74)

This workshop examines, from multiple perspectives, issues related to the inclusion of Aboriginal peoples on our campuses.  The workshop provides historical and contemporary information about laws and policies, demographics, and cultural and economic realities.  Participants will have the opportunity to apply new ideas and awareness, and build skills, by working through practical scenarios drawn from everyday work and life at McGill.

 

Race and Cultural Identity

(Nov. 4th, 2:30-4:30pm. McLennan Library, basement RM: MS-74)

Do you know what issues exist surrounding race and culture at McGill? Learn how to best foster diversity-receptive cultural attitudes and maintain a culturally respectful space on campus. Participants will have the opportunity to work through cases of discrimination most frequently encountered on campus.

 

Disability, Access and Universal Design

(Nov. 19th, 2:30-4:30pm. McLennan Library, basement RM: MS-74)

Wonder what challenges face people with disabilities on campus? Want to know how you can help improve universal access? Learn the statistics and barriers to universal access at McGill today and re-examine your preconceive notions about disability in higher education. You will also have the opportunity to examine case studies; identifying obstacles to inclusion and brainstorming ways in which to eliminate these.
